I have volunteer work at two church libraries and some entry work for journals and other items with the UF engineering “transportation library” but no actual official library experience. Thus I’m very excited for this internship with the UF Smather’s Library cataloging department. It will be 100 hours packed into 9 weeks while working full time and a class in the evening but it will be so worth it. Copy and original cataloging projects are on schedule as well as some possible e-resources and acquisitions projects. I look forward to adding any or all of these things to the items that I want to do when I apply for library jobs. Even if none of them are my favorite things to do, I’m bound to be a manager of some type of library function someday and need to have some competency outside of coursework. Bring it on!
